UPDATE ONE: As of 11.40am this morning, TalkTalk has insisted the problems plaguing its email service are now resolved.
In a tweet, the firm said: “The earlier issue with our email service has now been resolved and service restored. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
ORIGINAL STORY: TalkTalk is an internet and email provider that is harnessed across the UK.
However, this morning the service has been experiencing problems with its email arm, with a swathe of customers reporting they are unable to log-in and access their messages.
Independent outage monitor Down Detector has registered over 300 reports at one time from customers insisting the service is not working as it should be.
An outage map on the site shows the majority of the UK being affected by the outage.
Customers that have been unable to sign-in to their emails this morning have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One said: “Can’t get Tiscali emails. Webmail doesn’t recognise my email address.
“What’s happening? This has shut down my business.”
Another said: “TalkTalk email down via Outlook. Cannot connect to server (3011)on 3 devices.
“Webmail fine. Weston S Mare area.”
A third declared: “Hi can’t access any emails from my iPhone or iPad.
“Can access webmail ok but both apple devices just say fault. Any ideas?”
Some customers have also posted an image of the error message they are receiving.
One posted an image from their iPhone that stated TalkTalk’s mail server was “not responding”.
The alert read: “The mail server ‘mail.talk.talk.net’ is not responding.
“Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.”
TalkTalk has acknowledged the issues plaguing its email service and has stated it is working to get it resolved.
The firm said: “We’re aware that some customers may be experiencing issues with the email service. We’re really sorry.
“We’re working to get this resolved asap.”
TalkTalk’s service status page has also acknowledged the outage.
