Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt has hidden a surprise message in a new trailer.
The official Cyberpunk 2077 unboxing video (which can be seen below) contains a hidden message to fans.
The message was discovered by forum member IndifferentEmpathy, who found that the SSH server shown in Collectors Edition trailer pointed towards a Readme.txt with a secret message.
Unfortunately, however, it’s bad news for fans, who will have to wait a long time to view the gameplay demo.
Instead, the gameplay demonstration shown behind closed doors at E3 won’t be available to the public until Gamescom.
“Finally, after months of preparation, we can share with you two big things we have been hard at work on — CP2077’s cinematic story trailer and a brand new gameplay demo!” the post reads.
“Yes, yes, we know — for now, the demo is only available to the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to E3 and the rest of you will have to wait until Gamescom or the public dev Q&A unveiling stream at PAX in August.”
CD Projekt admits that the the gameplay won’t be shown until Gamescom is to build hype.
“Yeah, we can already feel the bashing you’re gonna give us online. ‘Why are you not treating us fair’, ‘why is the gameplay not being released right away?’,” the post continues.
“The reason is we want to make the most out of the months of work we put into the demo and first showcase gameplay live at E3 and Gamescom.
“Releasing gameplay right away would make the Gamescom presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype.”
Cyberpunk 2077’s release date was officially revealed during the Xbox E3 conference.
In a bizarre move, the release date was revealed by Keanu Reeves, who will play a character in the game.
Cyberpunk 2077 has an April 16, 2020 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
Expect Cyberpunk 2077 previews in the coming days.
