UPDATE 2: Anthem pre-order customers are having trouble accessing the VIP demo, as EA servers go down.
It appears as though the servers are struggling to keep up with demand, as players receive an “error retrieving Anthem live service data” message.
Fans are complaining about the server issues on Twitter, while EA Support assures players that the problems are being investigated.
“The Anthem team is looking into it, so hopefully we’ll get this sorted out soon,” reads an EA Support tweet.

UPDATE: Anthem developer EA has announced the end time for the VIP demo on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The Anthem demo comes to an end at 2am on Monday, January 28.
ORIGINAL: Anthem pre-order customers are counting down to the start of the VIP demo.
The VIP demo runs from January 25 until January 27, and is available to pre-order customers, EA Access and Origins subscribers.
You can register for the demo by visiting the Anthem website, inputting your code and selecting your preferred platform.
Fans can already pre-load the Anthem demo ahead of the 5pm UK start time on January 25.
If you do download the Anthem demo ahead of release, you should note that it weighs in at around 23GB on Xbox One and roughly 26GB on PS4.
There’s even an open beta, which kicks off a week later on February 1.
Unfortunately, however, only VIP demo participants will receive an exclusive in-game item that can be used in the full game.
“Your first chance to get your hands on Anthem starts January 25, 2019 with the VIP Demo,” EA explains.
“Dive into the world of Anthem and take the Ranger and one other javelin for a test run.
“Be the first to play Anthem with the VIP Demo from January 25–27, 2019.
“You must pre-order Anthem, be an EA Access subscriber, or be an Origin Access subscriber at the time of the VIP Demo to participate.”
Anthem is a multiplayer shooter that shares similarities with the likes of Destiny.
Developed by Mass Effect studio BioWare, the game drops players into a lush world filled with various quests and secrets.
“The heart of Anthem is a connected, social experience,” reads an EA post.
“Join with up to three other players in cooperative adventures that reward both teamwork and individual skill.
“Each player’s choice of Javelin exosuit will shape their contribution and strategic role on the team. Set out together on an expedition, or drop a contract to call in friends to assist with difficult challenges. As you explore, you will discover a gripping story filled with unique and memorable characters.”
The full game makes its PS4 and Xbox One debut on February 22.
